It has been a great day on the Outer Banks, North Carolina where we are now traveling with my wife and daughter. Jumping in waves, bathing in the sun, and, of course, fishing! It was my first time fishing in the saltwater. I surf fished, and regardless of a fairly strong wind and waves, I was able to land one bluefish (nothing big, but it still made my day). Here’s the picture:
In the evening we’ve had a great family dinner on the deck, with a beautiful view of a sunset over the Currituck Sound:
Hope your weekend has been going well too. Remember to spend the rest of it with the ones that matter most to you!
Very nice. I have never been there, but I hear lots of great thing about it. Must check it out soon!
We are not having a good weather here (raining most of the time), but overall I’m afraid I don’t agree with the slogan “Like Key West, only closer”. Maybe having heard “lots of great things about it” (just like you) I’ve expected too much.
Did you use the new kayak?
I did, Darren, thanks for asking. Not in the ocean though (too wavy). I used it in the Currituck Sound, and utterly enjoyed it.
Sorry your week wasn’t the greatest weather. I’ve never heard “Like Key West, only closer”, but I will say the Outer Banks is our favorite beach destination. We’ve been lucky with always getting great weather.

Yes, we were sorry too. Had to leave two days before the scheduled departure too.
I’ve seen the slogan on one of the billboards as I was approaching the Outer Banks.
We’ll definitely have to revisit some time next year. We go to Virginia Beach frequently, and OBX is just a short drive away. So, we’ll definitely have to come again.
What’s a good time of the year for that?
